New ALDI store announced at Ketley Point, Telford

We are pleased to announce a significant deal with ALDI to develop a brand-new 20,000 ft² retail store at Ketley Point, Waterloo Road, Telford – the former site of the Shropshire Star newspaper headquarters.

The redevelopment of the prominent brownfield site, once home to the Shropshire Star’s printing operations, marks a new chapter for the area. The new ALDI store is expected to open in the second half of 2026 and will bring fresh investment and job opportunities to the local community.

The scheme includes ample parent-and-child parking spaces, electric vehicle (EV) chargers, and easy delivery access. It is also set to deliver flexible employment opportunities, helping to regenerate the area and support the local economy.

Liz Lowe, Head of Development at Morris Property, commented:

“We are delighted to have concluded a deal with ALDI to deliver a new store at Ketley Point. It has been a pleasure working collaboratively with ALDI and their architects, Harris Partnership, to bring this development forward. We look forward to handing over the building ready for their internal fit-out by late February to early March 2026.”

Groundworks at the site are already progressing well. Morris Property’s in-house construction team, part of Morris & Company, is preparing to erect the steel frame for the retail store in autumn.

The new store is set to serve the Telford and surrounding areas, reaffirming ALDI’s commitment to expanding its regional presence and providing high-quality, affordable groceries to local residents.

The retail store sits on half of the site at Ketley Point, with the remainder being developed by Morris Property speculatively to bring forward a 45,000 ft² distribution warehouse.  This build project will run alongside the construction of the retail store.
