We delivered a major regeneration project at Limes Walk in Oakengates, revitalising the 1960s shopping precinct into a modern, welcoming destination for residents and visitors. Led by Telford & Wrekin Council, the scheme involved the full reconfiguration and refurbishment of fourteen ground‑floor retail units and their frontages along Limes Walk and Market Street, significantly enhancing the town centre’s appeal and contributing to increased footfall.
Above the shops, we delivered ten high‑quality residential apartments, bringing much‑needed new homes to the centre of the community. These apartments were fully let upon completion, reflecting local demand for contemporary town‑centre living.
As part of the early phases of the regeneration programme, our team carried out targeted demolition work and removed the external shop canopy. This opened up the area and allowed more natural light to reach shop frontages – a key improvement also highlighted by the council as essential to refreshing the streetscape and increasing visibility. Further demolition works cleared the way for the next stage of regeneration, including the creation of a new pedestrianised public square and community spaces linking Limes Walk with Market Street. These spaces formed part of the wider Theatre Quarter project, designed to better connect the town centre with Telford Theatre and create a focal point for live events, outdoor markets, and community activity.
Throughout construction, we worked closely and collaboratively with Telford & Wrekin Council to ensure all active businesses in Oakengates could continue trading. Our team provided temporary relocation solutions, maintaining vibrancy on the high street even during complex phases of the build.
In addition, temporary public realm works were delivered to support the wider theatre redevelopment, helping prepare the area for future phases while maintaining an attractive environment for the community. The transformation of Limes Walk is part of a series of regeneration works across Oakengates, with refurbished units re‑occupied, new businesses preparing to move in, and the area’s profile significantly elevated.
