Winning category at the Regional (West Midlands) LABC Awards

We’re delighted to announce that our extension on Churchill’s Hall at Shrewsbury School has won the ‘Best Non-Residential Extension, Alteration or Conversion’ category at the Regional (West Midlands) LABC Awards.

As well as the extension, the project saw the remodelling of boarding accommodation blocks by BCHN Architects as part of their vision to improve and modernise existing facilities to create light, bright and comfortable living spaces for students.

The award was granted for the display of excellent quality, design and collaboration throughout the project with BCHN Architects and Shrewsbury School. We are delighted that our ethos and commitment to excellence and our dedication to providing high quality work has been recognised.

Jon Taylor, Head of Estates at Shrewsbury School, said: “The refurbishment and extension to Churchill’s Hall was an interesting and complex project, delivered across several phases. The end result has unlocked the circulation challenges around the building, creating a much-improved flow and feel to the House. It has also provided additional social and study spaces, including the ever-popular House Kitchen.

“We are delighted to receive this award, which recognises the dedication and craftsmanship of everyone involved, from architects and builders to our in-house teams, in creating an environment where pupils can feel at home, learn and flourish.”

Steve Flavell, Construction Manager at Morris Property, said: “It was a complex, phased refurbishment requiring meticulous planning and communication with Shrewsbury School to co-ordinate works during school holiday periods. I’m proud of the team for delivering a final product that not only met but exceeded the high standards set for this heritage building.”

The redevelopment will now progress to the National LABC Awards, with winners announced at a ceremony at Grosvenor House Hotel, London, on 23 January 2026.
