Avatar Restaurant, a popular and well-established local restaurant serving authentic Nepalese and Indian cuisine, approached us to complete the renovation and fit-out of its impressive new premises at 49 Mardol, Shrewsbury
Completed in summer 2026, the project involved the sensitive transformation of a Grade II-listed building into a contemporary dining destination, carefully balancing modern operational requirements with the property’s rich heritage. The finished 2,437 sq ft restaurant is beautifully divided into three distinct dining areas alongside state-of-the-art back-of-house operations and storage.
During the six-month programme, our comprehensive scope of works began with an initial strip-out and the light demolition of existing partitions to prepare the historic fabric of the building for its new configuration. Our team then delivered a complete interior fit-out. This included full mechanical and electrical installations, a redesigned WC layout featuring premium sanitaryware, and a high-spec commercial kitchen extraction and ventilation system built for high-volume service.
To elevate the diner experience, the new customer-focused layout features bespoke upholstered seating, stunning feature wallpaper, and luxury architectural lighting. Our specialist joinery team played a pivotal role in bringing the interior vision to life, crafting and installing a striking bespoke bar alongside custom-built seating booths and integrated planters.
This impressive new space has allowed Avatar Restaurant to successfully transition from its former home at 22-23 Mardol. It now offers an enhanced, authentic dining experience for guests while breathing vibrant new life into Shrewsbury’s historic town centre.
