Garthmyl Hall, Montgomery

We are proud to have played a key role in the renovation of the stunning Georgian Orangery at Garthmyl Hall, delivering a fully bespoke joinery installation that enhances one of the venue’s most distinctive architectural features. Designed to complement the hall’s historic character while meeting the demands of a contemporary events venue, the completed orangery provides an elegant and versatile space for weddings, ceremonies and celebrations.

The Project

Every joinery element of the orangery was custom designed and manufactured by our skilled joinery team, with nothing produced to standard specification. From concept through to installation, each component was carefully crafted to meet the unique requirements of the building and preserve its elegance.

The orangery features bespoke external French doors finished in a soft duck egg blue. The doors are fitted with reflective glazing, incorporating a specialist metallic coating that provides daytime privacy, reduces solar heat gain and enhances the overall aesthetic of the building.

A defining feature of the space is the bespoke roof lantern. Designed and manufactured specifically for this project, the multi-pane pyramidal structure floods the orangery with natural light while creating a striking architectural focal point. The roof lantern incorporates high-performance solar control glass, allowing natural daylight into the space while minimising excessive heat gain and ensuring year-round comfort for guests.

Heritage Meets Modern Performance

A key objective throughout the project was to preserve the authenticity and character of Garthmyl Hall, since it’s heritage dates to 1762. Every design decision carefully balanced the building’s historic significance with the performance expectations of a modern venue.

To achieve this, Fineo glazing was specified throughout the project. Designed specifically for heritage properties, Fineo glazing delivers modern thermal performance while maintaining the slim sightlines and appearance expected within a period building.

Sustainability

Environmental responsibility was an important consideration throughout the project. Accoya timber was selected for elements of the orangery due to its exceptional durability, dimensional stability and sustainability credentials. As an FSC-certified material, Accoya offers outstanding long-term performance while supporting responsible forestry practices.

Sustainability was further supported during the finishing process using our in-house spray booth. This controlled environment minimises harmful emissions, reduce material waste through more direct application, improve efficiency and help lower the overall environmental impact of the project.

Delivery

The project required four months of specialist manufacture within our joinery workshop, followed by one month of on-site installation. The orangery was successfully completed in May 2026.

The Result

The completed Georgian Orangery seamlessly combines heritage craftsmanship with modern engineering to create an exceptional events space capable of accommodating up to 170 guests. Suitable for both ceremonies and dining, the orangery offers a light-filled, elegant setting that is equally suited to intimate gatherings and larger celebrations. Through bespoke craftsmanship, thoughtful restoration and sustainable construction practices, the project has transformed Garthmyl Hall’s historic orangery into a timeless space that honors the building’s heritage while providing an outstanding experience for generations of future guests.
