Morris Property announces STFC home shirt sponsorship

We are pleased to announce our partnership with Shrewsbury Town Football Club as the new front-of-shirt sponsors from the 2023/4 season. Our Morris Property logo will be included on home shirts from the coming season, with the new kit set to be unveiled in the next few weeks.

Morris Property’s Director, Chris Morris, with Roland Wycherley MBE, Chairman at STFC

As two long-standing Shropshire names we’re delighted to be partners with Chris Morris, Director of Morris Property commenting:

“This is the beginning of an exciting partnership between our two organisations.  We share a passion for Shrewsbury with our Shropshire heritage and strong sense of family values.

We have been rooted here investing in the county town for almost 155 years now and our latest 28-acre commercial development site, Stadium Point, sits adjacent to the ground here on Oteley Road, so supporting our new neighbours seems the perfect move.”

Chris met to seal the deal with Shrewsbury Town Football Club Chairman, Roland Wycherley MBE, who commented: “We are delighted to have Morris Property as our front-of-shirt sponsors for our new home kit. The Morris Company was formed way back in 1869 – with the football club founded 17 years later in 1886.

“We are two Shrewsbury institutions that have shown we know how to grow, how to change and how to adapt in order to be successful. I think it is fantastic that we have now joined forces and are working together.”

Morris & Company, founded by James Kent Morris with his small grocery shop in Frankwell, kicked off a business which has grown through five generations with Morris Property remaining at its heart.

“There is a legend in our family history that my grandfather, Cliff Morris, was proud to have played for the Town many years ago and we even have a photograph of him in the kit at the ground to prove the claim.  He played for the amateurs but was called upon to replace Finney in a 2nd division Alliance League game and from newspaper coverage of the match, he scored the third and eighth goals, helping the town win 11:1!” Chris revealed.

“He would have been proud to know that the family business was partnering with the Club today.

“Many colleagues throughout the Morris business are staunch supporters of Shrewsbury Town so this is a popular move and we look forward to supporting the team for some exciting seasons ahead.” Chris added.

As partners’ our first joint venture involved creating a fun video announcing the new relationship, with former Shrewsbury Town footballer, Dave Edwards, (capped 43 times by the Welsh National team) kicking off proceedings.  Dave’s deft footwork saw the ball soar out of the park over to the Morris Property groundworks team next door at their Stadium Point site on Oteley Road.
