Princess Royal Hospital Entrance, Telford

Project Specifications

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust commissioned the improvements to the main entrance of the Princess Royal Hospital as part of a multi-million-pound investment to transform care, experience and facilities in Telford.

During the three-month design period and nine-months of construction we managed the challenges of a live hospital site to deliver the project on time and in budget.

Externally, we constructed a new curved, glass fronted entrance to enhance the natural light, a link canopy for cover and temporary and then permanent pathways.

Inside we built a new reception area and multiple retail spaces, which is now home to national brand Costa Coffee and Market Express, which is the world’s first store within a healthcare location to use Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology.

Admin hubs and meeting rooms were created on the ground and first floor with 164 new work spaces for hospital staff. State of the art ventilation, cooling and heating systems were fitted throughout.

The improved access, reception and wayfinding around the site will provide greater comfort and accessibility for communities across Telford & Wrekin, Shropshire and mid-Wales.
