PROPERTY SPECIALISTS COMPLETE FACTORY UPGRADE AHEAD OF TIME

A challenging project to upgrade a Powys factory and remove asbestos materials safely without disrupting manufacturing on the site has been completed ahead of schedule.

Morris Property carried out the work at Carpenter & Paterson Ltd in Welshpool in 18 weeks to provide an improved building that was well insulated, leak-free and more economical to run.

Our specialist team replaced an asbestos cement roof and gutter with a new insulated roof and gutter and replaced external asbestos cladding with new insulated metal cladding. New roller shuttered doors and standard size doors were also installed.

The scheme at the Crown Works in Welshpool involved sealing off areas as work progressed and planning operations to allow manufacturing of pipe suspension equipment and fabricated steelwork to carry on as normal.

Ian Carswell, contracts manager at Shrewsbury-based Morris Property said: “It was a significant contract which we completed two weeks earlier than planned thanks to good weather and being flexible on our programme of works. We continually liaised with the client to be mindful of their requirements and production schedules.”

Kevin Edwards, financial director at Carpenter & Paterson, said: “Morris Property is an experienced local specialist which understood our needs and worked closely with us to ensure minimal disruption throughout. We are very pleased with the improvements made which should provide us with long term benefits.

Carpenter & Paterson Ltd is one of the leading designers and manufacturers of pipe support systems worldwide. Its products are principally used in the power generation, petrochemical, oil, gas and process industries.
